2019 Holiday retails expected to increase 3.8 to 4.2 %

The NRF is projecting this year’s holiday sales to increase by 3.8-4.2% to roughly $728-$731 billion. The forecasted growth is slightly above the 5-year average of 3.7%. This is below last year’s forecast of 4.3-4.8% but well above the unexpectedly low 2.1% increase which the holiday season closed out with.

For their part, consumers expect to spend 4% more this year than last, per another survey released by NRF.
