I Google everything. Recipes. Weird tech questions. And late-night TV ratings.
This morning’s Google search, ratings for Jimmy Fallon when Greg Gutfeld appeared (8/7/25). There is no political agenda in this post, I don’t post about politics. This search & post are just curiosity. The things I think about when I can't sleep.
My hunch, Fallon’s ratings that night would be strong. They were, according to the Google search results, Fallon's audience spiked by 57% in total viewers.
My thoughts, when late-night leans too political, they risk alienating half the audience. Comedy loses its edge, and it becomes predictable. Fallon leans left, Gutfeld leans right, together they hit the sweet spot. funny without the filter bubble.
I watched The Tonight Show first time in a while. The best part of the segment with Fallon and Gutfeld, Zero politics. Just a silly story.
Maybe that’s the real late-night hack, make us laugh without trying to win an election.
