In a muddy CTV landscape filled with bold claims and AI hype, success comes down to the people you trust. Discover the four pillars of successful partnerships and why one common professional phrase 'With all due respect' might be doing more harm than good to your business relationships
I thrive in the CTV space, even though clarity is lacking and competing stories abound.
Claims of exclusive inventory, sophisticated technology, enhanced outcomes, and AI are constant noise. If you follow the headlines, it becomes evident that
success ultimately depends on the foundation of the people you choose to partner with.
For me, it comes down to four pillars:
Capability & Competence
Reliability & Consistency
Transparency & Openness
Integrity, Ethics, & Trust
In my daily conversations, I consistently re-educate, evaluate, and clarify the bold statements made in our industry.
There is one phrase I deliberately try avoid:
"With all due respect."
Regardless of intent, that phrase almost always strikes as passive-aggressive or patronizing.
It’s the professional equivalent of"no offense, but..."
There are better ways to disagree or offer a different viewpoint without the sting.
Here are a few to try.
"I have a different perspective..."
"I think there’s another way to look atthis..."
"Help me understand your side..."
"I don’t agree, and here’s why..."
Do you catch yourself using the phrase
"with all due respect"?
How does it land for you when you hear it?
Check out this link on the research behind how it actually lands
