The best thing about CTV isn't just discovering what's new. It's rediscovering what was great all along.‍

SNL Royal Deluxe a ride so smooth you can...

In our industry, we spend a lot of time talking about impressions, reach, FAST channels, and vMVPDs. All important topics. One of the best things about Connected TV (CTV) isn't just discovering what's new. It's rediscovering what was great all along.

The other night, my wife and I watched an old episodes of Rowan & Martin's Laugh-In. It was wild seeing stars who are gone now looking young again. They were smoking during the opening monologue. I had completely forgotten that, but somehow I still remembered the go-go dancers.

The next night, I found myself deep into classic Saturday Night Live and came across the "Royal Deluxe" sketch. It was a luxury car that rode so smoothly a rabbi could perform a circumcision in the back seat while the driver bounced through potholes and swerved around obstacles.

Ridiculous. Inappropriate. Absolutely hilarious.

It struck me that comedy back then had one job: make people laugh. It didn't care who you voted for, what side you were on, or whether anyone might be offended. It just went for the laugh.

With one click, I can jump from today's hottest series to shows and movies I haven't seen in decades. CTV has turned my remote into a DeLorean, capable of time travel. Tommy Boy gets me every time. So does Jaws. Great content doesn't have an expiration date.
